You may have heard of the term “staycation” which describes a vacation where you’re not too far from home. In these times, staycations are becoming more and more popular among Las Vegas locals.
Here at Station Casinos, we like to call these StaCations™ (get it?).
If you’re considering a staycation, there are six locations in town that are perfect for a 48-hour getaway.
Take Green Valley Ranch Resort, Casino and Spa, for example. Open in 2001, it’s a favorite particularly for Henderson locals (don’t call it Vegas in front of them!).
Below is an itinerary for the perfect StaCation at Green Valley Ranch based on a Friday afternoon check-in and a Sunday morning check-out.
Night One: Friday at GVR
4 p.m. – Check-in and freshen up
There’s no better feeling than checking into your hotel room. This is especially true at GVR where the lobby area is absolutely gorgeous.
Consider a stop at Lobby Bar* to kick off your trip. It’s right next to check-in and has a great front-row seat to the backyard area. Plus, you can walk out to the backyard terrace area and enjoy carefully crafted, custom cocktails at the pop-up lounge Backyard at Sundown, which opens at 5 PM Fridays and Saturdays.

6 p.m. – Walk the casino floor
With over 140,000 square feet to explore, GVR is massive. If you’ve never been before, we recommend starting out with a walk on the floor to check out everything there is to offer for your weekend. That includes indoors AND outdoors (we’ll get to the beautiful pool area soon).
It’s always good to get your bearings first.
7 p.m. – Dinner at Hank’s Fine Steaks
Start the trip with one of the best steakhouses the city has to offer. Hank’s Fine Steaks is loved by locals for their service, quality, and value compared to strip steakhouses. And let’s not forget about the martinis in its namesake.
What many love about Hank’s is the live music – on any given night the piano area is occupied by a local musician setting the perfect ambiance for your night out.
Lastly, if you want to go big, Hank’s is one of the only spots in town that serves certified Kobe Beef. It’s pricey and it’s worth every cent.
9 p.m. – Bingo Session
BINGO! If you’ve never been to a late-night bingo session at GVR, it’s something you have to try. It’s tons of fun and your experience comes with comped drinks.

Day Two: Saturday at GVR
9 a.m. – The Spa at Green Valley Ranch
Just beyond the Tuscan-Inspired vineyard, you will find the Spa and Salon at Green Valley Ranch. Beyond world-class treatments, the space itself allows for a perfectly relaxing Saturday morning with a private adults-only lap pool and numerous areas to relax.

12 p.m. – Pool Day!
Arguably the most recognizable spot at GVR is the backyard area.
The lush eight-acre backyard is the most Instagrammable spot at GVR. It offers amazing views of the Las Vegas Strip, personalized food-and-beverage service, and plush loungers & daybeds.

The casino floor will be buzzing on a Saturday night and you’ll be right in the middle of the action.
Final Morning: Sunday at GVR
10 a.m. – Brunch at Bottiglia
End your StaCation on a high note. Bottiglia is one of Henderson’s best brunch spots and the food is as beautiful as it is delicious.
It’s a favorite spot of Instagrammers and one look at the restaurant will show you why. Its bright patio and classy colors make a great background for a photo of your mimosa glass.
